Malcolm Edmonstone is an arranger, conductor and pianist fluent in jazz and popular music. In 2004 he worked as Assistant MD and Arranger for the first three seasons of Strictly Come Dancing with Laurie Holloway. He contributed orchestral arrangements for Gary Barlow’s 2021 album Music Played by Humans which entered the Official UK Top 40 at Number 1 and earned a BPI Gold Disc. Malcolm has collaborated with prominent artists in popular music as an arranger and conductor, working extensively with vocalists. In 2022 he orchestrated the new musical The Time Traveller’s Wife (songs by Dave Stewart and Joss Stone) and in 2023 a revised version of Tim Firth & Gary Barlow’s Calendar Girls. He has been arranger/ conductor for concerts or recording sessions featuring Rick Astley, Gary Barlow, Tommy Blaize, Melanie C, Liane Carroll, Lulu, Mark King, Katie Melua, Liza Minnelli, Tony Momrelle, Heather Small and Ruby Turner and as a session musician with Michael Ball, Dame Shirley Bassey, Tony Bennett, Madeline Bell, Alfie Boe, Michael Bolton, Michael Bublé, Tony Christie, Sir John Dankworth, Bruce Forsyth, Robin Gibb, The Jonas Brothers, Dame Cleo Laine, Kenny Lynch, David McAlmont, Rita Ora, Donny Osmond, Cliff Richard, Sam Ryder and Ed Sheeran.
